Fundamentals
Good baseball starts with footwork, balance, and clean direction. We focus on the movements that let players repeat their swing and delivery under game pressure.
Private hitting and pitching instruction in North County San Diego, paired with live-game MLB 20-80 scouting evaluations from a former SDSU scholarship player, pro player, pro coach, and 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals scout.
One-on-one cage and bullpen work paired with honest Major League scouting evaluations.
Foundational Baseball works with hitters and pitchers to build clean, repeatable mechanics, while giving high school and college-bound players a real look at how Major League scouts grade their tools.
Direct work on throwing and hitting mechanics built for consistency, arm health, and timing that holds up in games.
Clear drills with a specific purpose, giving hitters and pitchers practical adjustments they can take straight to the field.
In addition to personal instruction for hitters and pitchers (players 16 and older), Benny Gallo provides an honest, professional evaluation based on the official MLB 20-80 grading scale. Over a 2 to 3 game stretch, he assesses a player's current tools and future potential for the next level.
Simple, repeatable baseball instruction built for real game situations.
Good baseball starts with footwork, balance, and clean direction. We focus on the movements that let players repeat their swing and delivery under game pressure.
Cage work only matters if it shows up at 7:00 PM. Every drill is chosen so the hitter or pitcher can feel the adjustment immediately and trust it against live pitching.
Players and families deserve straight answers. Whether in a 30-minute lesson or a 3-game scouting look, Benny Gallo gives clear feedback on where a player stands and what to work on next.
Foundational Baseball was founded by former Division I scholarship player, professional baseball player, professional coach, and Major League scout, Benny Gallo.
Prior to his professional career, Benny Gallo earned a collegiate baseball scholarship to play at San Diego State University (SDSU, 1978-1980) while studying Business. The next 7 years he would go on to play professionally across the San Francisco Giants, Anaheim Angels, and independent professional baseball; followed by 1 year as a professional pitching coach with the Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians) organization; and 14 years of Major League Baseball scouting and analytics experience.
A graduate of the Major League Baseball Scout Development Program (2008) sponsored by the San Diego Padres (covering Instructional League and Arizona Fall League games for the MLB Scouting Bureau), Benny Gallo spent nearly 5 years (2007-2011) as a scout for Inside Edge delivering advanced scouting reports, pitch-by-pitch velocity/movement/location tracking, and defensive spray charts to Major League Baseball clubs and ESPN broadcasts, followed by 9 years as a full-time Major League Baseball scout covering Southern California & Hawaii for the 2019 World Series Champions, Washington Nationals.
Good baseball comes down to clean, repeatable actions that hold up when the game speeds up. Instead of chasing trends or overcomplicating a player's natural athleticism, Benny Gallo works with hitters and pitchers on sound direction, balance, and timing they can trust in live at-bats and on the mound.
